MEET DJ DAVID
What’s your favorite part about DJing weddings?
Working with a couple to create the event they envision. When I start working with a couple, they usually have a rough sketch of what they want for their wedding day. As we work together, we build on that sketch and iron out all the details. It’s great when a couple comes to me at the end of the night to tell me they had an amazing time.
Why do you think someone should hire you to DJ their wedding?
Communication is very important to my process with couples, this is a collaborative effort. In addition to my professionalism, a couple should hire me because I am always listening. We’re on the same team and we want the same outcome, an amazing wedding.
How would you describe your MC style?
When it come to being an MC, I’m not shy about using the mic. I’m happy to make any announcements needed and I will definitely hype introductions and get people on the dance floor. However, I’m not a DJ who is constantly on the mic. When it comes to dancing, I let the music do the talking.
How do you like to keep the dance floor rockin’ all night?
By paying attention to the crowd. I always go over what music styles/artists/songs are important to a couple and I use that to curate hours of music. At the same time, you have to know when something isn’t working, you have to know when to slow things down and bring things back up. I’m also open to requests. I use my discernment, if the couple loves Hip-Hop I may not entertain a request for Megadeth. However, sometimes a request can be exactly what the party needs.
