Meet DJ Robb
What’s your favorite part about DJing weddings?
I’ve been DJing for a long time so this is a tough question for me to answer, but I’d have to say It comes down to the special moments and the responsibility. Regarding special moments I LOVE the first dance because most times it the first time since the ceremony that the couple has 3 minutes of just getting lost in each other’s presence and you can see the love and happiness in their eyes. I also enjoy ‘surprises’ built in to the night I’ve had a wide range from the UW Madison Marching band show up to a father of the bride revealing he was a great dancer ( he’d won several disco contests back in the day) and she and her siblings had NEVER known that or seen him dance, One of my personal favorites was a Groom and all of his groomsmen do an elaborate dance during the garter removal because I’d l helped them choreograph it and practice.
Regarding what I said about responsibility I like knowing I have a huge part in the way the guests feel at the end of their night and knowing even years down the line their memory of that couples wedding is ‘I had a great time’
Why do you think someone should hire you to DJ their wedding?
I would say one of the main reasons is because I have djed almost 1100 weddings and I’m ready for anything. Additionally I’ve trained wedding DJ’s for years, and I’ve been ranked in the top 5% of wedding DJ’s in the U.S. My professionalism and knowledge base are unmatched.
I’ve been very successful in this for a long time and the reason I think that is true is because I’m a romantic and I see my role as the supporting cast to the stars of the show (the happy couple!)
Here are a few more facts about me that might make you choose me as your DJ
PrePandemic I was touring the country (23 different states) doing college dances and was part of producing a tour that one ‘Best Show of the Year’ by NACA
I am an entertainment business author and the KIndl’s best selling author on Karaoke, and I have a new book soon launching on Music Selection for Weddings and Events
I do a lot of work as an event planner and designer
I used to be very active in the comedy world and did both improv and stand up comedy, as well as working as a comedy ghost writer for a lot of people/shows you may know but I’m not allowed to disclose in writing ( or on the internet)
Lastly while I might seem very braggy here it’s only because I was asked to answer these questions as honestly as I can. When you meet me you’ll find a nice guy who is confident yet humble professional.
How would you describe your MC style?
I am a chameleon, my style is what ever is best suited for the vibe the couple want portrayed on their special day. Also, I understand that clarity is a key factor any time I am on the mic – some of my other entertainment background has contributed my style vocally.
How do you like to keep the dance floor rockin’ all night?
I understand the ebb and flow of various age groups and what brings them to a dancefloor and I am very adept at transitioning seemlessly between songs (a.k.a mashing up ) that keep more then one group together on the floor at the same time.
List your top-5 favorite songs to play at weddings
This is by far the hardest question I have to answer, because I don’t have specific songs that I love to play because it isn’t about me. Ask me at the end of any wedding and I can tell you my answers for that night because every crowd is different.
What’s one fun fact that most people don’t know about you?
This is super boring but I absolutely LOVE envisioning new concepts/brands and writing business and marketing plans for them.
